You are certainly welcome and encouraged to attend the Market
Livestock Sales, but you do not have to be present to purchase an
animal. A sale committee representative will purchase the animal for you.
Please contact Beaver County 4-H Stockman's Club for more information.
The phone number is 724-573-2268.
Option #1 - Purchase all or part of the animal
The most popular option is to purchase an animal for your own use. You
may also choose to share an animal with a friend. If you prefer to
purchase only half or quarter of an animal, please arrange for a friend or
colleague to purchase the other half prior to sale day or let us know
when you register at the buyers table that you would like to buy any part
of an animal. Please refer to the "5 Easy Steps to Buying a Market
Livestock Animal."
Option #2 - Buy animal(s) and then send them to a
livestock auction
A buyer could purchase the animal(s) and then send it to a livestock
auction. Please, let us know when you go to pay for the animal that you
want the animal sent to an auction. This method is similar to option three.
However, the animal will not be re-sold until it goes to the designated
auction. The buyer will receive a check from the auction for the amount
the animal was purchased for at that livestock auction. Auctions in the
area where animals may be sent are: New Wilmington Auction and 84
Auction.
Option #3 - Donate your purchased animal to a 4-H
Scholarship Fund
After you buy the animal let the auctioneer know if you are donating it
back. Your purchased animal will be resold at the end of the sale of its
respective species. The second purchase price will be donated to the
4-H Scholarship Fund, which provides funds to 4-H members pursuing
advanced education. Each year we award scholarships to deserving
young men and women.
Please note: You may donate a sum directly to the 4-H Scholarship Fund.
Simply send your check made payable to "Beaver County 4-H Stockman's Club"
directly to Beaver County 4-H Stockman's Club PO Box Hookstown, PA 15050. All
Scholarship supporters will be recognized in the Buyers Ad in several tri-state
newspapers.
Options #4 - Donate your purchased animal to the
organization of your choice
The live animal will be delivered to your designated packer. The
organization should contact the packer to make necessary
arrangements. In the past, buyers have donated animals to the Homeless
Shelter, Senior Citizens Center, or church group.
NOTE: If you purchase a hog, lamb, or steer and split it with a
friend, all cost and carcass figures should be divided in half to
determine carcass values.
