5 Easy Steps to Buying a Market Animal
Beaver County 4-H Stockman's Club

1) Arrive at the fairgrounds at least one hour before the start of
the sale. Take some time to walk through the livestock barns and
view the market animals offered for sale.

2) Register at the Buyers' Table, located near the sale arena.
Friendly people will record your name, address, and phone
number and assign you a buyer's number. Be sure to register as
you want to be recognized in the Buyers' ad in the newspapers.
Pictures of the Grand Champions and their purchasers may
 appear in this ad.

3) Bid on your selected animal(s). Steers, Lambs and Hogs are
sold by the pound. The auctioneer and ring men will take your
bids. The cost depends on whether you purchase a steer, lamb
or hog, and how much you are willing to spend. Approximate
costs are listed on the animal fact sheets..

4) Signing your invoice is very important. Your name and the
name of your preferred packer must be included on the invoice.
You will receive a copy of the invoice.

5) Settle your account at the sale table before you leave. All
animals must be paid for on the day of the sale. You do not have
to wait until the sale is over. Please settle your account at your
 convenience.

 * The 4-H Club is responsible for delivering the market animals to the
packers after the sale.
Contact your packer the week following the sale to
make cutting arrangements and to schedule a day to pick up your meat.

PLEASE NOTE

Ownership and title pass to the buyer or his/her representative at
the time of purchase. The buyer assumes ownership and
responsibility for the animal at this time. 4-H and/or the seller is not
responsible for  any injury, sickness, or death of the animal beyond
the point of sale.
